Two McIntosh MC275-VI units under test after repair at Bob the Tech Audio

McIntosh MC275-VI Oscillation Repair

Bob the Tech Audio recently had these two McIntosh MC275-VI units in for repair. Bob the Tech has serviced dozens of MC275s from the early MC275-II E-series serial numbers to the most recent MC275-VI. One of these two MC275-VIs exhibited a common high frequency oscillation that we’ve seen when driving a few Watts into the test load. It’s very high frequency, not discernible to the ear, but it can trigger the Sentry Monitor function to shut down the unit. After application of a simple fix we’ve developed the unit performs great.

The pair are shown here under test. With the outputs bridged for mono operation, each is capable of 150W output. It was a pleasure listening to them before sending them back to the customer.
