McIntosh MC7105 Repaired by Bob the Tech Audio

McIntosh MC7205 Faulty Channel Repair

Bob the Tech isolated a faulty left front channel in this McIntosh MC7205 to the speaker relay. The issue was intermittent. The output worked when the driver card was jiggled or jarred. This pointed to something in either the relay drive or relay itself. We assessed the relay drive circuit and it was operating properly. Removing and replacing the relay had this unit operating reliably in no time. We also replaced the front panel lamps, which were all burnt out. The right hand meter is discolored. This may be due to excessive lamp heat in the past. Unfortunately, the meters are no longer available. The performance of the unit was excellent, and it was a pleasure to listen for a while before returning to the customer, who left us some great feedback. Check out his feedback on our customer feedback page.
